Minneapolis residents can enjoy the benefits of recreation and the city's many amenities through hundreds of year-round, tax-supported programs and services offered by the MPRB. Programs range from classes at neighborhood rec centers and environmental programs in the great outdoors to sports leagues and concerts in the parks. To learn more select an activity or program listed below or on the left. Use the Activity and Program Finder to locate an activity. Register for a program if you've found what you're looking for.

 

Outdoor Concerts and Movies
For a refreshing form of entertainment, take in an outdoor concert or a movie at a park near you.
Water Recreation Opportunities
Locate swimming classes and other swim programming offered at Recreation Center pools across the City.
Adult Sports
Get a team together for an adult league in the sport of your choice or pursue fitness through a class or program. The MPRB offers year-round opportunities to participate in sports and fitness activities.
Youth Sports
The Youth Sports Department coordinates competitive inter-park sports leagues in basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, hockey, soccer, wrestling, gymnastics, football, badminton and team tennis primarily for youth between the 4th and 9th grades. In addition, other sports programs are periodically offered to Minneapolis youth.
Youth Programs
Our specialized programs and activities for children and youth range from school-age child care to youth leadership experiences. Find what's available at our parks facilities throughout the city.
Environmental Programs
Children, adults and families throughout the city can enjoy a variety of environmental programs taught by naturalists and instructors at our Recreation Centers.
Computer Labs
Many rec centers offer computer labs for free public use for educational classes, homework, graphic design, e-mail and “Surfin’ the Net.”
Inclusion & Adaptive Programs
MPRB offers several programs and services for people of all ages with disabilities.
Recreation Centers
A wide range of activities and programs for children, youth, adults and seniors are available at neighborhood Recreation Centers. Use the Activities & Program Finder to locate specific offerings.
Community Special Events
From the Fourth of July to the U.S. Pond Hockey Championships there are family-friendly activities year round.
Indoor Ice Arenas
The MPRB offers two indoor ice arenas to give skaters and hockey players the opportunity to skate year round or even play soccer on specially-laid turf.
Volunteer
Give back to your community through opportunities that range from youth sports to gardening.
Outdoor Winter Recreation
Stay active in the winter months with winter recreation opportunities at area parks. The Park Board features figure skating, hockey and broomball on over 30 ice rinks plus one indoor ice garden. Cross Country Ski trails are maintained at several parks. Winter Wirth is the focus of winter activities for the city including rentals and lessons for snowboarding, tubing and cross country skiing.
