Parks

The Chain of Lakes
The Chain of Lakes, both a part of the Grand Rounds and one of Minneapolis' most highly visited locations, is comprised of a number of parks along a chain of connecting lakes. A 13.3 mile biking/walking/jogging path encircles the entire Chain, providing a beautiful setting for activity.

The Grand Rounds
The Grand Rounds, a National Scenic Byways, is a system of lovely trails, paths and roadways in a totally unique urban setting. Composed of seven districts, it creates a loop over 50 miles long around the City, offering an unsurpassed view of Minneapolis by bike, 'blades, foot or vehicle.

Gardens & Natural Areas
What could be more enjoyable on a spring or summer day than to gaze at the beautiful flowers growing in our City's parks? The plants, flowers and lawns of the Minneapolis parks add to the beauty and enjoyment of our park system.

Recreation Centers
The Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board operates 49 year-round, neighborhood-based Recreation Centers. Programs, classes and special events are offered to residents of the entire Twin Cities metropolitan area.

Trails
Almost 50 miles of paved trails showcase lakes, parks, gardens, historical sites, beaches, golf courses and diverse Minneapolis neighborhoods. Grab your walking or jogging shoes, rollerblades or bikes to take advantage of our park system’s beautiful trails.
